Manager Roberto Martinez has said at his press conference earlier today, which was broadcast by Everton’s official Youtube channel, that Aaron Lennon has impressed him with his form this season.
Lennon joined Everton from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but he initially struggled to break into the team at Goodison Park.
The England international appeared to be behind the likes of Arouna Kone and Gerard Deulofeu in the pecking order over his first few months at the Merseyside club, but he has broken into the team of late.
Lennon has now scored six times in his last 11 games, and Martinez is delighted to see the 28-year-old having such a big impact on matches.
“From our point of view, it’s been great to see Aaron Lennon’s form,” Martinez said. “He’s been really, really impressive. He’s been influential in everything that he happened in the final third and his performances have been very strong.”
Lennon has now racked up 21 appearances for the Toffees this season, and he is enjoying his best run of form for years.
The rapid wide man is visibly full of confidence, and he has made Everton even more of an attacking threat.
Lennon’s impressive form have increased the volume of calls for him to be included in England’s EURO 2016 squad.
The ex-Leeds United trainee missed out on making the cut for Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions squad, which was announced today, but if he keeps up his current form then the national team may have to consider taking him to France.
