According to a report from The Sun, Liverpool are looking to sign Manchester City midfielder Fernando this summer - but will only pay up to £10m for him.
The Reds are likely to be very active in the summer transfer window, as manager Jurgen Klopp will surely look to mould his own squad at Anfield.
Fans are keen to see a goalkeeper signed as well as another winger, but a defensive midfielder appears to be on Klopp's wish list, according to new reports.
The Sun claim that Liverpool are pursuing Manchester City's Fernando, and could lodge a summer move to beat his former club Porto to his signature.
The Brazilian, 28, joined City from Porto back in the summer of 2014, but has largely been used as backup for Fernandinho and Yaya Toure in the heart of Manuel Pellegrini's midfield.
Fernando - nicknamed 'The Octopus' during his time in Portugal - has started just 11 Premier League games this season, and may look to leave the Etihad Stadium upon Pep Guardiola's arrival in order to play first-team football elsewhere.
Liverpool could take a chance on the midfielder, but it's claimed that Klopp's men will only pay up to £10m and no more for Fernando, and landing a deal would give the Reds an effective defensive midfielder to help protect the back four, offering competition for his compatriot Lucas Leiva.
