Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund go head-to-head this evening.
Last Thursday a much changed Tottenham Hotspur side was put to the sword by Borussia Dortmund, with two goals from Marco Reus and one from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang giving the Bundesliga side a 3-0 lead to take into the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.
It was a superb demonstration of attacking football from Dortmund and even at full strength Tottenham may have struggled to contain them, but how Spurs line up this evening for the second leg will go a long way to determining how much they believe they can turn things around.
If manager Mauricio Pochettino has ambitions of progressing in the competition, here are four players he must start, despite the challenges that lay ahead in the Premier League:
Tottenham need goals, lots of them, and Pochettino has one of the best strikers in the business in the form of Harry Kane.
The sensible option would be to rest the England forward for the league campaign, but if Spurs want to turn this around Kane must start.
Midfielder Dele Alli has been nothing short of sensational this season and he looks destined to become a superstar at White Hart Lane in the years ahead.
He has the magic to unlock Dortmund’s defence and must surely start if Pochettino is eyeing a famous European night in North London.
Left-back Danny Rose has been superb in the league and he shone against Aston Villa last time out.
In contrast, Ben Davies looked out of his depth against Dortmund last week and Pochettino will surely have to change things up if he wants to qualify.
Dortmund will want to dictate the play and Dier’s job would be to break that up, win the midfield battle and set his more attack-minded teammates on their way.
While Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll played the first tie, only a change of personnel in the midfield is likely to force a change of fortune.
