Jamie Carragher and Pepe Reina react on Twitter to Philippe Coutinho's performance v United

The Liverpool legend at first criticised the Brazilian, then swore at him in delight.

Jamie Carragher was high on emotion on Thursday night as Liverpool faced Manchester United in the Europa League.

Indeed, the Liverpool legend at first criticised Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian gave the ball away in the build-up to United's opener (scored from a penalty).

But he responded to Coutinho's goal by suggesting everything is forgiven for the midfielder - and he was so excited he used a swearword...

Meanwhile, former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina also took to Twitter after Coutinho's wondergoal against Manchester United.

It was on the stroke of half-time that the 23-year-old struck, cutting into the box from the left-hand side and beating David de Gea from a very tight angle.

Reina was certainly impressed:

Next up for the Reds is a Premier League trip to Southampton, while Manchester United travel to Manchester City this weekend.

The race for the top four is hotting up and all three teams realistically still have a chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
