Gerard Deulofeu on his partnership with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku

Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu has claimed 12 assists so far this season.

Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu has admitted to the Daily Star that every time he gets the ball he is trying to find Romelu Lukaku.

The powerful forward has smashed in goals on a regular basis for the Toffees this season, and Deulofeu has been a key provider.

The Spanish winger’s skill and crossing ability make him a key creative influence in Everton’s team, and the former Barcelona man admits that he enjoys making chances for Lukaku.

“When I receive the ball I always look for Lukaku,” Deulofeu said. “He always knows where I will put the ball and he’s been on the end of the majority of my assists.

“He’s an amazing striker – he’s an animal – he always wants the ball and he makes it easy to pick him out.”

Deulofeu’s tactic of finding Lukaku has worked to great effect so far, as the winger has created 12 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old may have been handed a rotational by Roberto Martinez, but his quality has been very evident throughout the campaign.

There is great excitement over Deulofeu’s future at Goodison Park, and if he continues to work in tandem with Lukaku it will stand Everton in good stead.

Lukaku has scored 25 times in 36 appearances for Everton, and he currently sits in third place in the Premier League goalscoring charts.
