Carlos Carvalhal's men currently sit in a top six spot in the Championship with just nine games to go.
Gary Hooper has told his Sheffield Wednesday teammates that if they defend well between now and the end of the season, they will have no problem securing their spot in the play-off places in the Championship, the Sheffield Star reports.
With nine games to go, the Owls are currently sixth in the table, but have a cluster of sides breathing right down their neck. But the striker believes that if they manage to keep their remaining opponents at bay, it will not matter how their rivals get on as they will take care of their own destiny.
"We will just worry about ourselves. We are all feeling very confident," he told the Star.
"We know we can play really good football and we showed that against Forest. The main thing is defending well as a team as we will always create chances. As long as we defend well, we should win games because we have got players who can take chances."
As Hooper suggests, Carlos Carvalhal's side have had no problem finding the back of the net this season. Only league leaders Burnley have scored on more occasions than the Owls, which suggests that the only issue that potentially may prevent them finishing in the top six is their defence.
Although they have been almost as impressive defensively as they have going forward, they have still conceded more goals than any of the sides in the top five.
However, given the success their style of play has had since the Portuguese arrived at Hillsborough, it is unlikely that he will look to change anything drastically to improve their defensive record as that may have a negative impact on the amount of chances they create in a game.
