Former Newcastle United striker Patrick Kluivert backs Rafa Benitez to keep them up

The Dutchman is backing Benitez to keep Newcastle up.

Newcastle United are undoubtedly in a relegation battle and on Sunday face a six-pointer against fierce local rivals Sunderland at St James Park.

Newcastle's poor run of form and subsequent relegation fear has seen them make the recent decision to send Steve McClaren packing with Rafa Benitez heading to the club.

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss will be hoping to keep Newcastle in the Premier League but will be looking for a more positive result this weekend then the one he picked up in his opening game against Leicester City in the week.

But one man backing him to keep Newcastle in the Premier League is former Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert.

The Dutch legend joined Newcastle from Barcelona in 2004 and spent one season on Tyneside before heading back to Spain with Valencia.

He told Sky Sports News HQ earlier today (17/03/2016) of his belief that Benitez will keep Newcastle in the Premier League:

Benitez is a massively experienced coach and his success is well documented. However, there have been fears regarding his experience of coaching at the bottom end of the table being limited.

But if he can utilise his well-known talents on this crop of talented Newcastle players then Kluivert's prediction might prove true.
