Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Theo Walcott's England call-up

Even Arsenal fans are a bit bemused at Theo Walcott's call-up to the England squad.

Arsenal had just two players named in the latest England squad, with Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck selected.

Kieran Gibbs has not been involved for the Gunners of late, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere are out injured.

Walcott's international call has been a bone of contention for many supporters across the country who feel attackers at their own clubs should have been picked instead.

Among those who missed out are Everton's Aaron Lennon, Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, and West Ham's Michail Antonio, who have all been in impressive form since the turn of the year.

The same can't be said for Theo Walcott, who has struggled over the past few weeks, coming in for criticism from his own supporters, and left on the bench with Arsenal needing goals in the Nou Camp this week, picked off the bench for only the final few minutes.

Walcott has a battle to win over his own fans at Arsenal, and the international call only highlights that more is expected of him.

Picking out the last good game he had for England is tough, and he needs to start producing at international level as well as for his club.

Arsenal fans were pretty bemused at his call-up by Roy Hodgson. Here is a look at how they reacted...
