Jamie Carragher has taken to social networking site Twitter to respond to a prediction that Everton will play their U21’s in the upcoming Merseyside derby with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Merseyside derby falls on a Wednesday night on April 20, three days before Everton take on the winners of West Ham United or Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.
The Toffees advanced to the semi-finals following victory over Chelsea, and Arsenal’s exit over the same weekend has really opened up the competition with the so-called favourites now eliminated.
The FA Cup represents Everton’s best opportunity for silverware in years, so much so that we may see Roberto Martinez rest a number of key players three days before in the Merseyside derby.
Writing on Twitter, Carragher suggests an Everton team full of U21’s can’t do any worse than the first-team.

That'll be Everton Under 21's vs Liverpool at Anfield.
The Toffees don’t have the best of records at Anfield, having not won there this side of the Millennium.
That said, six of the last seven meetings between the teams have finished all square and Liverpool’s record at Anfield isn’t particularly great, especially against teams further down in the table.
Roberto Martinez’s side have already enjoyed a decent cup run in the League Cup, losing 4-3 to eventual winners Manchester City at the semi-final stage, but this time they will be looking to go one further.
Everton are in relatively good form, winning six of their last eight matches in all competitions.
