Newcastle United supporters are firmly behind manager Rafa Benitez as a poll conducted by HITC Sport shows how more than 85% believe the Spaniard is the right man for the job.
The former Liverpool boss took over the reigns at St. James’ Park last week, succeeding Steve McClaren who was eventually relieved of his duties following a run of poor results.
Newcastle currently find themselves in 19th position in the Premier League table, and Benitez has been tasked with the job of keeping the Tyneside club in the top-flight.
Asked whether the Spaniard is the right man for the challenge via a recent poll, a large majority of the participants have suggested that both Mike Ashley and Lee Charney have made the right call.
As shown by the results, 86% of over 1,000 participant voted in favour of Benitez being the right man for Newcastle, both in the short-term and in the long-term.
His reign as Newcastle boss, however, didn’t get off to the best of starts as the Magpies suffered a 1-0 defeat to Premier League leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
There were plenty of positives for Newcastle, yet a familiar lack of quality in the final third let them down.
Up next for Newcastle is the Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland, a game they arguably must win what with the Black Cats sitting only one point ahead of them and just outside the drop zone.
