Report: Manchester United consider Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as possible replacement for David De Gea

Ter Stegen has been linked with a move away from Barcelona, while De Gea's future has come under the spotlight once again.

Manchester United could make a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen in the summer if David De Gea were to leave the club, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror have previously reported that De Gea is attracting interest from Paris Saint Germain, with the Ligue 1 champions reportedly prepared to pay £30 million for his services.

Inevitably, if that were to happened then Unite would look for a replacement. Ter Stegen has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp for much of the season given he gets his chances to perform in the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey, but is rarely starting in La Liga games. As a result it is thought he would like to start games more regularly.

There have been suggestions that the German is wanted by other clubs, including Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, so United may have a challenge when it comes to trying to land the 25-year-old with other big names seemingly keen to sign a top class goalkeeper in the summer.

If De Gea were to leave then there will be a lot of pressure on Manchester United to bring in a top class replacement, in the knowledge that they may not get a keeper of the standard of the Spaniard. He has been a pivotal part of the side for the past few years, and many feel they could be worse off than their current standing where it not for his heroics at times this season.

One factor that could determine whether a move takes place or not is who United will have as their manager this season, as speculation over Louis van Gaal's future just won't go away.
