Mauricio Pochettino drops Tottenham team selection hint ahead of Borussia Dortmund match

Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to TalkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur may not select either Christian Eriksen or Mousa Dembele against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday evening.

Eriksen and Dembele did not train with the rest of Spurs’ squad on Wednesday morning in the build up to the Europa League tie.

Although Pochettino says that neither of the pair are injured, he has hinted that they could be rested in midweek as they need some time off.

"There are no big issues but maybe they're not going to be available for tomorrow," Pochettino said.

"Eriksen needs a rest and maybe Dembele does too.”

Pochettino named a much changed line-up in the first leg of Spurs’ Europa League tie against Dortmund, and he was punished for it.

The German side ran out 3-0 winners and it leaves Spurs with a huge mountain to climb if they are to make it through on Thursday evening.

With the Lilywhites still chasing the Premier League title, there may be a temptation to leave many of their key players on the bench, with their chances of making it through looking slim.

After playing against Dortmund, Tottenham’s next match comes against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
