Sunderland are also said to be keen on the Bristol City defender.

Bristol City defender Aden Flint is attracting a lot of attention at the moment for his brilliant performances in the West Country.

He is helping The Robins fight for survival in the Championship and was recently named the Championship Player of the Month for February.

That has seen him linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion recently. The Mirror reported that West Brom were keen on the player and were willing to pay £2 million for the player.

Now his current manager Lee Johnson has commented on his Premier League ability, comparing him to a current West Brom player, to the Western Daily Press:

"It does not surprise me at all. You've only got to look at someone like Gareth McAuley to see what is possible.

"He went to the Premier League at the same age as Aden Flint is now and went on to have a really good career.

"I have no doubt he can do it at an even higher level. I've no doubt he has a Premier League future ahead of him and, hopefully, it is with us.

The same report also suggests that West Brom are not alone in the pursuit of the player. They claim Sunderland have been watching him this season and that they may also make a move for his services.

Flint has come a long way since joining Swindon Town from non-league Alfreton Town and his rise to the Premier League would be an excellent achievement for the 26-year-old.

Whether he ends up at Sunderland or West Brom this summer or not, surely Flint has a future in the top-flight.
