Stuart Pearce predicted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, March 14) that Nottingham Forest will not get relegated from the Championship at the end of the season.
The former Forest manager also predicted the Reds to end up in mid-table.
“I think they have got too much quality within the squad to actually go down this season, but I think they will end up being - someone asked me at the start of the season where they would finish and I said they would probably be mid-table, 12th - and that’s probably how it has panned out,” said Pearce.
Forest are 14th in the Championship table at the moment with 45 points from 36 matches.
The Reds are nine points above the relegation zone and 14 points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
The Championship is a very competitive league and a nine-point gap is not a big one, but Forest do have enough quality to stave off relegation.
Not so long ago the Reds appeared to be in the running for a top-six finish, but as things stand at the moment, they should be able to finish in mid-table or perhaps in the top half.
