Shaka Hislop says this is key to West Ham’s long-term fortunes

Shaka Hislop names the Olympic Stadium as a big factor.

Shaka Hislop has told Sky Sports that the Olympic Stadium is key to West Ham United achieving success in the long term.

West Ham will leave the Boleyn Ground and move to the Olympic Stadium at the start of next season.

"The club are moving into a new stadium next season, which will be key to their long-term fortunes,” former West Ham and Newcastle United goalkeeper Hislop told Sky Sports.

Leaving the Boleyn Ground at the end of the season will be emotional for the West Ham fans, but moving to the Olympic Stadium is certainly a step in the right direction for the club.

West Ham are a big club in London, but to become a force in English football and become a ‘global brand’ in the coming years, they need the Olympic Stadium.

The Hammers are having a great season, and there is a chance that they could end up in the top four of the Premier League.

Slaven Bilic’s side are still in the FA Cup, as the London outfit aim to end their time at the Boleyn Ground on a high.

West Ham will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
