Tottenham Hotspur hope to soon welcome back two key players.
The defender has been out since getting injured in late January, while N'Jie has not played since early December, having barely made an impression before then.
The Mail report that Vertonghen is back running, and could be back available for selection after the upcoming international break.
This would be a significant boost for Tottenham even though they have coped admirably in his absence, with Kevin Wimmer filling his position adeptly.
After the international break Spurs have a tough run of games, visiting Liverpool on April 2 before hosting Manchester United on April 10, and visiting Stoke City eight days later.
Vertonghen used Twitter at the weekend to confirm he is also backing kicking a ball.
Very happy to touch the ball again after such a long time!!! Ready for the game now! #COYS— Jan Vertonghen (@JanVertonghen) March 13, 2016
The Mail report that N'Jie is making strong progress, and is 'nearing a return to action'.
He will not be involved with Cameroon over the international break and will hope to get up to speed for Tottenham's April fixtures.
