Ray Wilkins has predicted on Sky Sports that Aston Villa's miserable season will not have a happy ending.
Villa have won just three matches throughout the season to date, and they currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The Claret and Blues are nine points adrift of safety, meaning that they will require a miraculous escape to stand any chance of retaining their top flight status.
And Wilkins, who began this season as Villa’s assistant manager, does not feel that his former side have enough quality to pick up the points required.
In fact, Wilkins feels that Villa’s misery is not yet over - as he feels they are set for plenty more losses.
Wilkins believes Villa will lose five of their remaining eight fixtures - against Swansea City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Watford and Arsenal.
The 59-year-old does think that Villa supporters will be able to celebrate one more victory, though, as he has backed them to beat struggling Newcastle United.
If Wilkins’ predictions do come true, Villa will finish the season with just 21 points - leaving them well short of safety.
