Newcastle United are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour suggested on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 2 on Sunday morning (broadcast from 11am, March 13) that Newcastle United need to improve their away form in order to avoid relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Parlour believes that new manager Rafael Benitez needs to address this issue soon.
"Away from home, their record is awful, it really is," said Parlour on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 2 on Sunday morning (broadcast from 11am, March 13). "That’s what Rafa has got to get right.
"At home, you have got passionate crowd behind you. Away from home, they have got to set up differently, I think. That will give them a few more draws away from home."
Parlour made the comments a day before Newcastle’s away game against Leicester City in the Premier League.
The Magpies’ poor run of form away from St. James’ Park continued on Monday evening, as they lost 1-0 to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
Newcastle have won just two league matches on the road so far this season, and have drawn one and lost 12.
The Magpies have scored only seven goals and conceded as many as 33 away from St. James’ Park.
Benitez is a defence-minded manager, and he should be looking to address this issue.
Newcastle’s next Premier League game is at home against Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
