The on-loan Villa man smashed home from 30 yards against Hull City for Forest on Tuesday night.
Gary Gardner has built something of a reputation as a player who always has a long-range goal up his sleeve, and he proved so again on Tuesday night with a stunning strike.
With Nottingham Forest and Hull City locked at 0-0 in the first half at the KC Stadium, the on-loan Aston Villa midfielder received the ball fully 30 yards from goal and smashed home into the top corner.
Gardner has become something of a fan favourite at the City Ground since initially joining the Championship club on loan in January of last season after failing to hold down a first-team place at Villa Park.
The 23-year-old scored four times in 18 matches and became a hero during his months in the East Midlands for his passionate, combative displays and tendency to score spectacular goals.
After recovering the latest in a long line of injury setbacks he rejoined the club earlier this year until the end of the season, and his wait for the first goal of his second spell was ended in some style on Tuesday.
Gardner's goal was met with unsurprising adoration from the Forest fans, who were delighted to see their favourite loanee back amongst the goals.

Does Gary Gardner score tap-ins? Has he ever even seen one, or does he recoil in horror when he watches MOTD? #NFFC— Calum (@calumwhu) March 15, 2016
Just a average day at the office for Gardner what a strike!!! @22Gards— Kieran Blood (@KGTM_) March 15, 2016
Meanwhile, perhaps unsurprisingly given Villa's plight this season, the stunning effort was greeted by plenty of calls from claret and blue fans for Gardner to finally become a regular for the Birmingham side in what looks certain to be a Championship campaign next season.
Surely @22Gards will be one of the first names on our team sheet next season— Tony Bassra (@tbass_utv) March 15, 2016
