Manchester United and Liverpool go head-to-head this week.
Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Thusday evening with Louis van Gaal’s side desperately trying to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.
Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino in the first game have given Liverpool a healthy advantage, but the game is not over yet and if United play the way they did at home against FC Midtjylland in the previous round they could well go through.
To do that they need to pick the right players and here we take a look at three United stars who must start if they want to get the better of Liverpool on the night:
Netherlands international Memphis Depay has struggled to replicate his top form this season but his best performances have come in Europe and while he has been in and out of the team he must start this match.
Depay can be the spark United need for a famous comeback and van Gaal must show his faith in the winger from the outset.
Morgan Schneiderlin should be playing every single week for United, but van Gaal has inexplicably overlooked him in favour of Marouane Fellaini recently.
Liverpool will be looking to attack on the counter this week and the French international is a far better option than the Belgian to break up the Reds’ play and set his own team going forward.
Young forward Marcus Rashford has not maintained his unbelievable early scoring streak but he has still performed well and he should be starting on Thursday in a front-three with Depay and Anthony Martial.
United need players who can put the ball in the net and Rashford is preternaturally good at that.
