Tottenham Hotspur beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur moved back to within two points of league leaders Leicester City after a 2-0 win away at Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Two goals from Harry Kane - both set up by Dele Alli - handed Spurs all three points at Villa Park, in a game where Mauricio Pochettino's men had control of the game from start to finish.

Pochettino will now be hoping for a favour from Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez, with the Magpies travelling to face Premier League leaders Leicester City tonight.

Spurs are still in with a shout of winning the Premier League title, but need favours from other teams to get them above Leicester, and all Pochettino's men can do is keep winning and hope for the best - just as they did against Villa on Sunday.

After the final whistle, a host of Spurs players took to Twitter to react to the result, with injured defender Jan Vertonghen praising his team-mates for getting back on track whilst he watched on from the sidelines.

His Belgian international team-mates Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele reflected on an important result, whilst Vertonghen's replacement in defence, Kevin Wimmer, echoed those thoughts, with Kyle Walker thanking Villa fans for the reception he received upon his return to his former club.

Eric Dier celebrated getting 'back on track' after no win in the previous three games in all competitions, Erik Lamela stated he was very happy with the win, whilst star striker Kane thanked Alli for the two assists, suggesting it was a solid display from Tottenham.
