The Sunderland loanee 'loves' playing for Leeds and is 'very aware' of their long-term interest.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has confirmed Sunderland loanee Liam Bridcutt is 'very aware' of the Yorkshire club's long-term interest in the midfielder, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old is on loan at Leeds from the Black Cats and is getting far more game time at Elland Road than he did at the Stadium of Light.

And Evans insists Bridcutt is 'very aware' of United's long-term interest - and 'loves' playing for the Whites.

The Scot is quoted as saying by Sky when asked about Leeds' plans to sign Bridcutt from Sunderland on a permanent basis: "I think Liam's very aware of what I think of him.

"He's very aware of what this football club thinks of him and the one thing I'm very aware of is that Liam loves playing for Leeds United. He never hides that."

Bridcutt's form had dipped temporarily but the 26-year-old is back on track - as are Leeds with three wins in their last three Championship games.

Bridcutt's overall performances, meanwhile, since leaving Sunderland on loan have earned him a call-up to the Scotland squad.

Leeds host Huddersfield Town next weekend, before another Yorkshire derby against Rotherham United and former manager Neil Warnock.

And Sunderland travel to Newcastle United for a derby of their own on Sunday afternoon.
