Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore suggested on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Sunday evening (broadcast from 6pm, March 13) that Manchester United should be favourites to win the FA Cup this season if they have all their best players fit and available.
United are yet to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals on Sunday evening.
This means that Louis van Gaal’s side will have to win the replay at the Boleyn Ground in London to go through.
Everton, Watford and Crystal Palace have already progressed to the last four of the prestigious cup competition, but Collymore seems to believe that United are better than all of them if they play to their full strength.
“Let’s be perfectly honest," said Collymore on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Sunday evening (broadcast from 6pm, March 13) while speaking to a United fan.
"With the greatest of respect to West Ham United, with the greatest of respect to Crystal Palace, to Watford and to Everton, if Manchester United can get everybody back fit, firing and in form, you should be overwhelming favourites to win this FA Cup, shouldn’t you, even at this stage?"
Collymore does have a point, as on paper United have a very good squad who can win the FA Cup.
The problem is that some key players have suffered with injuries this season, while others have not been playing well.
Everton got the better of Premier League rivals Chelsea in the quarter-finals, and the Toffees will fancy their chances of winning the FA Cup this season.
Premier League duo Watford and Palace will know that in an one-off game, they can beat anybody.
