Dimitri Payet calls on West Ham United fans in replay

Upton Park

The Frenchman wants the fans to be West Ham's 12th man.

West Ham United star Dimitri Payet has called on the supporters to push the players into a FA Cup semi-final when Manchester United visit Upton Park for the replay, as quoted by the Hammers' official website.

Old Trafford played host for the quarter-final on Sunday as Payet's stunning 30-yard free kick was cancelled out by Anthony Martial with seven minutes to go.

The Red Devils now head south for the replay at the Boleyn Ground, and the French play-maker says that the fans have a big role to play if they want to reach Wembley.

“We all have the dream of playing the semi-final at Wembley. There have been surprises in these quarter-finals and it's going to be open right until the end. We have to get past Manchester United to have the opportunity to play at Wembley," he told the club's official website.

“I think it is going to be an extraordinary match, the supporters want us to progress, they will be there and we will need them.

"It's still Manchester United and we'll have to produce a big game to get past them. But firstly there's the league and Chelsea next week.”

Sunday's draw was the second stalemate between the sides at Old Trafford this season, with Slaven Bilic's boys earning a 0-0 draw in the Premier League earlier in the campaign.

But the replay will be the Red Devils' first trip to Upton Park this season and with the way West Ham are playing the Croatian boss will fancy his troops to advance into the last four.

As far as the league goes, the Irons sit one place and two points ahead of them in fifth. They might not need the fans - the players may be well be capable on their own.
