Scouts from Arsenal, Manchester United, Southampton, Stoke City and West Ham United reportedly watched Rennes take on Lyon.
According to a report from Get French Football News, West Ham United were among a host of clubs with scouts at Rennes' clash with Lyon on Sunday night.
In an entertaining encounter at Roazhon Park, Rachid Ghezzal and Alexandre Lacazette put Lyon 2-0 up, only for Fallou Diagne and Chelsea loanee Jeremie Boga to find the net and hand Rennes a share of the spoils in a rousing fightback.
Intriguingly, a host of Premier League scouts were allegedly at the game, as Get French Football News reported that Arsenal, Manchester United, Southampton, Stoke City and West Ham all had representatives there, whilst European giants like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus are also believed to have had scouts watching on.
The star attraction for Rennes was teenage winger Ousmane Dembele, who has taken French football by storm this season. The 18-year-old wide man has racked up nine goals and four assists in just 18 games this season, which has unsurprisingly triggered interest.
Dembele may be out of West Ham's reach considering his already huge reputation for a teenager, but if they are looking to be ambitious and land a big-name striker for the opening of the Olympic Stadium this summer, then the aforementioned Lacazette may be their man.
The French international, 24, has hit 13 goals this season to go with his 53 strikes from the previous two campaigns, making him one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe - and given that West Ham should have money to spend this summer, an ambitious move for Lacazette would really show their intentions.
It's unclear just who West Ham were watching, but having seen Dimitri Payet star for the club ever since his move from Marseille, it's smart for the Hammers to keep track of French football and see if there are similarly talented players to be signed this summer. With European football potentially on offer from Slaven Bilic's men, West Ham could be a very attractive proposition in the transfer window, lending itself to ambitious signings, just like Payet was last summer.
Should West Ham bid for Lacazette this summer?
