Mario Gotze says he hasn't discussed a transfer to Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp

Gotze seems to be linked with a move to Liverpool fairly frequently.

Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze has told German TV station ZDF that he hasn't discussed a potential move to Liverpool with Reds' boss Jurgen Klopp.

Gotze worked under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund before leaving the club for the Allianz Arena in 2013. Together they won the Bundesliga on two occasions, the DFB Pokal and reached the Champions League final.

There have been a lot of links suggesting that the man who fired Germany to World Cup glory in 2014 could be in line for a reunion with his old boss on Merseyside.

The Liverpool Echo picked up on the quotes, where Gotze said he does exchange texts with Klopp.

He said: “We are texting now and again. He was my coach at Borussia Dortmund, but there is nothing special.”

Gotze returned to action after a spell on the sidelines as Bayern Munich maintained their five-point gap at the top of the Bundesliga with a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.

There are one or two suggestions that he would find it difficult to get back into the side on a regular basis given the impressive performances of players such as Douglas Costa for the German champions this season.

Gotze was pressed a little on his future. With Pep Guardiola departing the club in the summer for Manchester City, there could be one or two changes at the Allianz Arena.

The player added: “It hinges on many factors. Everything else will show in the future.

“We are still in the current season but, sure, it’ll be important what the new coach thinks.”

While there may be a denial of any notion of an approach from Liverpool, it really doesn't put the lid on speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool. It will be interesting to see if anything will actually materialise.
