The Barcelona striker was embarrassing his teammates on his first day of training according to Shelvey.
He has continued that lethal form at Barcelona, where he has linked up with Neymar and Lionel Messi to continue terrorising defences.
However, it seems he started it all by embarrassing his own teammates first, with a nutmeg in his first training session having left Carragher with the hump.
“Suarez is a natural born winner, that's why he goes over the top on the field sometimes,” Shelvey told Sky Sports.
“He's a great player. He nutmegged Jamie Carragher on the first day and he got the hump a little bit.
“You knew he was going to be a hit straight away at Liverpool because of the passion he played with and the intensity and tempo he trained at.”
Liverpool would certainly love to have Suarez back at the club now given their troubles up front since his departure.
Daniel Sturridge may be fully fit and showing why he has been so sorely missed in his absence, but he is some way from offering what Suarez did to the team.
One man who could replace him in future is Roberto Firmino, with the Brazilian having finally found his feet at Anfield and shone over the last few months.
