Tottenham player ratings v Aston Villa: Kane stars as full backs impress again

Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-0 today - here is how their players rated...

Hugo Lloris 7 - a few shaky moments early on in the game, but was sound when called upon during rare attacks from Aston Villa.

Kyle Walker 8 - always seemed to be available down the right hand side, and troubled Aly Cissokho throughout with his pace. Not afraid to take on Cissokho, Walker got in shots and crosses all day in an impressive performance.

Toby Alderweireld 7 - composed in and out of possession, the Belgian didn't allow the physical Rudy Gestede to dominate him in another good performance.

Kevin Wimmer 7 - solid alongside Alderweireld, but wasn't called upon as much as he has been recently, with Villa's attack rarely threatening the Spurs goal.

Danny Rose 8 - much like Walker, Rose was given acres of space every time he went forward, and caused no end of problems with his pace and deliveries into the box.

Eric Dier 7 - used the ball well and kept things simple, though his defensive attributes weren't really needed this afternoon against a feeble Villa attack.

Mousa Dembele 8 - controlled the middle of the park - as he so often does - in another fine display. Classy in possession and strong to fend off challenges, the Belgian was excellent yet again.

Erik Lamela 7 - dangerous throughout and unlucky to see a first half shot hit the post. Worked hard off the ball and always looked a threat in the final third.

Dele Alli 7 - played two fine passes for the goals, but Alli still looked off colour at times. A lot of his first touches went astray, but when you can be off colour and rack up two assists, you know you've got a special prospect on your hands.

Christian Eriksen 6 - went close with a long range strike in the first half but failed to really impact the game outside of that. Could maybe do with a rest when Spurs play Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.

Harry Kane 8 - when he first hit the crossbar then had two shots saved by Brad Guzan, it looked like being a frustrating day for Kane. However, he kept plugging away and served up two great finishes to hand Tottenham all three points, with Villa unable to handle him.

Tom Carroll 6 - came on late in the game and kept possession well as Spurs played keep-ball for the final stages.

Ryan Mason and Nacer Chadli also came on, but weren't on long enough to make a real impact on the game.

Who did you think was Tottenham's man of the match today?
