Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has posted on social media site Twitter after making a return to training.
Vertonghen has been out injured since 23 January, when he damaged his knee against Crystal Palace.
But the Belgian defender is edging closer to making a return to full fitness and he was delighted to be kicking the ball around again earlier today.
Very happy to touch the ball again after such a long time!!! Ready for the game now! #COYS— Jan Vertonghen (@JanVertonghen) March 13, 2016
Vertonghen was one of Tottenham’s key players over the early part of the season, and his partnership with Toby Alderweireld was highly impressive.
The pair had been rock solid at the back, but Kevin Wimmer has stepped up well in Vertonghen’s absence.
It means that Mauricio Pochettino will have a selection dilemma, when Vertonghen does return to fitness, with his centre-back options looking very strong for the future.
