Steve Evans admits he made an error during Leeds United's match against Blackburn

Leeds United beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 yesterday to record three successive victories.

Manager Steve Evans has admitted to Radio Yorkshire that he made a mistake with his substitutes during Leeds United’s match against Blackburn Rovers yesterday.

Leeds brought on Stuart Dallas, Chris Wood and Luke Murphy after establishing a 2-0 lead at Ewood Park, but Evans felt that he failed to make the changes early enough.

Blackburn managed to pull a goal back late on, and Evans admits that his players had to help him out as he made an error during the contest.

"I should have helped them a little bit earlier - with a few substitutions that should have been better, and more effective time wise," he said. "But when I needed help the players were there to help me, and when they need help I’m there to help them."

Despite Evans’ rather modest appraisal of his own managerial performance at Ewood Park, he will still be able to reflect on the past week with great pride.

Leeds have won three matches on the bounce for the first time this season, and they are now in the top half of the Championship table.

Evans was under scrutiny after a 4-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has responded to the pressure well.

Leeds are now targeting a top 10 finish, with their next match coming against their Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
