The Brazilian has been in fine form for Liverpool this season.
The midfielder has endured a stop-start campaign so far this season, with a series of niggling injuries limiting his game time.
When he has played though, he has been the star man in the Reds' midfield, linking up superbly with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino to devastating effect.
And as far as Pele is concerned he is one of the best Brazilian in Europe at present, because of his experience.
"Our country has many brilliant players in Europe," he told LFC TV.
"There are other good young Brazilians in Europe at the moment but they don’t have Philippe’s experience.
"He grew up in Europe, moving to Italy when he was just 17 or 18 – so he’s a more experienced player already."
While Coutinho may be up among the leading Brazilians in Europe at present, there is no denying he is far behind the best, Barcelona’s Neymar.
The forward has been in sensational form once again for the Catalan giants, with his relationship alongside Luis Suarez and Messi the deadliest front three in possibly world football at present.
Nonetheless, Coutinho has been impressive under Jurgen Klopp so far and does look set for a bright future under the German’s guidance at Anfield.
