The Brazilian has been missing since the Capital One Cup defeat to Manchester City.
The Brazilian had been excelling in the Reds' first-team in recent weeks, with a stellar performance in the Capital One Cup final loss to Manchester City in particular.
He picked up an injury in that game though and has had to watch his teammates embark on a fine run of form without him.
Many are keen to see him return regardless and he says he should be back following the upcoming international break.
“I’m progressing very well. I’m really happy with the way it’s going,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“I’m aiming that after the international break I’ll be close to coming back and hopefully playing a big part in the last part of the season.”
Lucas will face a battle to get a starting place when he does return with competition fierce in the Reds first-team at present.
Emre Can is continuing to excel in a defensive midfield role, while the likes of Joe Allen and Adam Lallana are competing for midfield positions.
Even central defence has become congested, with the previously un-fancied Dejan Lovren having enjoyed his best spell in a Reds shirt in recent games.
That leaves Lucas with a fight on his hands to get back in once he does get back to full fitness.
