The Chelsea striker appeared to bit Everton midfielder Gareth Barry’s neck during the FA Cup quarter-final tie between the two sides at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.
The Spain international was sent off following the clash with Barry in the 84th minute of the encounter.
A Chelsea spokesman has been quoted as saying by the club’s official Twitter page that Costa has denied that he bit the Everton midfielder.
Owen has given his take on the situation on Twitter and has praised Barry.

Everton got the better of Premier League rivals Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup quarter-final tie.
Romelu Lukaku scored both the goals for Everton at Goodison Park, first in the 77th minute and then on 82 minutes.
The Toffees will return to action next weekend when they take on Arsenal at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
