Blackburn boss suggests Leeds did not deserve victory

Paul Lambert felt Blackburn Rovers did not deserve to lose against Leeds United.

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert felt his team were hard done by against Leeds United.

Leeds won 2-1 at Ewood Park through goals from Sol Bamba and Mirco Antenucci, both created by Alex Mowatt.

Rovers netted a consolation in the 89th minute through Simeon Jackson, with Leeds 2-0 up by that point having netted a goal midway through each half.

Lambert told Blackburn's official website: "I don't think we deserved to lose. I thought we started the game really well but against the run of play they scored from a corner, and then from our own corner they break and get a second.

"We made a right good fist of it and I still thought we were the better side."

Leeds came into the game just one place and one point above Rovers, but four points now separate the two teams with Leeds in 13th and Blackburn remaining 16th.

Blackburn edged the possession stats against Leeds but it was hardly dominant, with 54 per cent to 46 per cent.

Leeds had more attempts on goal with 14 to Rovers' nine, and won 19 tackles compared to Blackburn who won 10 in total.

Lambert did not suggest Blackburn deserved to win, but believed Leeds were fortunate to leave Ewood Park with more than a draw.
