Alan Thompson has told The Scottish Sun that Kris Commons should start for Celtic against Rangers next month.

Celtic will take on Old Firm rivals Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Former Celtic midfielder Thompson believes that manager Ronny Deila should include Commons in his starting lineup against the Gers.

“I’d definitely say he’s still the best No10 Celtic have,” Thompson told The Scottish Sun about the 32-year-old attacking midfielder. “He’s a really talented lad and from my point of view — and many others’ he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet, if not the first.”

Commons has been on the books of Celtic since 2011 and is one of the better players in the current Bhoys squad.

However, the attacking midfielder has not played as many games as one would expect him to.

The Scotsman can be superb when he is on form, and his experience and vision will be important for Celtic against Rangers.

Rangers are in great form at the moment and will fancy their chances of winning against the Hoops.

The Gers are going strong in the Scottish Championship and have some very good players who are in great form.

It should be a very exciting and entertaining game of football.
