The Portuguese international may not play for Forest again.
Nottingham Forest put in one of the worst performances of their season so far today, losing 3-0 to Sheffield Wednesday at the City Ground.
It was a shocking performance from the Forest players, and they desperately missed the presence of Nelson Oliveira.
In fact, it looks like he may have played his last game for the club.
The Portuguese star, who has become something of a cult hero during his time at the club, is struggling with a groin injury and it was confirmed by Freedman to BBC Nottingham Sport after the game that Oliveira looks likely to miss the rest of the season:
"Looks to be out for the rest of the season.
"A six week groin injury."
Oliveira has been in great form for the club this season and will be sorely missed in the attacking department.
He is only on loan from Benfica and Freedman confirmed earlier in the season that there was no chance of the club completing a permanent deal for the player.
So with this groin injury it seems Oliveira's time at Forest is, unfortunately, up.
Forest have moved to replace the player, by bringing Federico Macheda in from Cardiff City on loan.
