Robbie Fowler says these two Manchester United players came out with credit

Liverpool won against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.

Robbie Fowler said on the UEFA Europa League Highlights show on ITV on Thursday night (March 10) that Manchester United’s performance against Liverpool was disgraceful.

United suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Reds away from home at Anfield in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday evening.

Former Liverpool striker Fowler was following the match, and he was far from impressed with the performance of the Red Devils.

The former England international, though, did praise United goalkeeper David de Gea and 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford.

“I think they were disgraceful tonight,” said Fowler on the UEFA Europa League Highlights show on ITV on Thursday night (March 10). “Coming here tonight in such a big game.

“I think maybe one player could have come out of that with credit, sorry two players. Obviously the keeper and Rashford in the first half. Unless he was injured, I think he was unfortunate to go off.”

De Gea was United’s best player against Liverpool and made as many as six saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

During his 45 minutes on the pitch at Anfield, Rashford took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 67%, attempted one dribble, and made one clearance.

Liverpool won the game against United 2-0 at Anfield, thanks to a first-half penalty from Daniel Sturridge and a goal from Roberto Firmino in the 73rd minute.
