Liverpool are reportedly targeting Koln duo Timo Horn and Jonas Hector.

According to German newspaper Bild, Liverpool are targeting Koln duo Timo Horn and Jonas Hector, having sent scout Matthias Hamann to watch the duo.

Manager Jurgen Klopp saw his side beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night, and whilst he is doing great work with the squad at his disposal, new signings are certainly needed this summer.

Many have expected the former Borussia Dortmund boss to return to the Bundesliga in search of new signings, and that may well be true amid recent reports in Germany.

Newspaper Bild report that Liverpool are looking to land Koln duo Timo Horn and Jonas Hector this summer, and even sent scout Matthias Hamann - the brother of former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann - to watch the pair in action against Schalke last weekend.

Horn, 22, is one of the most highly-rated German goalkeepers around right now, putting him in the same bracket as Barcelona's Marc-Andre Ter-Stegen and Paris Saint-Germain's Kevin Trapp, and a move to a bigger club seems like a formality.

With Liverpool stopper Simon Mignolet still inconsistent, manager Klopp may seek a long-term replacement, and Horn could be the ideal goalkeeper to bring in, as even though he's just 22, he has already racked up nearly 150 appearances for Koln.

Meanwhile, defender Hector has become Germany's first choice at left back, making ten caps ahead of what should be a huge European Championships for him this summer.

The 25-year-old has shown his pace, crossing ability and defensive attributes in recent seasons, and with Liverpool left back Alberto Moreno still yet to really impress on a consistent basis, Klopp may see Hector as a possible solution to the Reds' long-standing issues at left back.

With Hamann watching the duo play on behalf of Liverpool, it seems that Klopp is at least considering moves for both players, with his knowledge of German football possibly coming to the fore this summer, as we have already seen with the pre-contract agreement for Schalke defender Joel Matip.

Do you think Liverpool need a new goalkeeper and left back this summer?
