Djimi Traore reacts on Twitter to Liverpool win over Manchester United

Former Liverpool defender was happy to see his old side beat Manchester United.

Former Liverpool defender Djimi Traore expressed his delight at his old side's victory against bitter rivals Manchester United.

Traore, 36, played for the Reds between 1999 and 2006, famously featuring in the Champions League final against AC Milan.

The former Mali international used Twitter to convey his admiration for his former team's 2-0 victory at Anfield, and posted a photo from the BT Sport studio of fellow ex-Red Steve McManaman beaming, while former Red Devils stars Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand looked glum.

Liverpool restricted United to just one shot on target, ensuring they did not score a crucial away goal, giving themselves freedom to play at Old Trafford and try to kill the game off next week.

The evening was a perfect one for Liverpool, with Louis van Gaal's Manchester United team given little room to create, and resorting to playing long balls up to Marouane Fellaini.

With a Champions League spot up for grabs for the Europa League winner, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are right to be happy at edging closer to the quarter-finals.
