Businesswoman Sarah Garrett co-founded diversity events and publishing company Square Peg Media and is the driving force behind the British LGBT Awards.

Q - How long have you been in the industry, and what is your current job title?
20 years! You name it, entrepreneur, founder, chief exec… woman that fixes the internet. I’m CEO of Square Peg Media.
Q - Did you have a mentor and, if so, who ?
I’ve had various mentors with different roles. My best mentor would be Ben Summerskill OBE, former CEO of Stonewall.
Q - Are you by nature a pessimist or an optimist?
Whole-heartedly, an optimist.

Our British LGBT Awards’ Lifetime Achievement winner, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Skills, Angela Eagle MP

Sometimes it’s OK to say no

There is always a way, you’ve just got to want it enough
