Shinji Kagawa: The Dortmund star who has already tasted painful defeat against Tottenham

Shinji Kagawa will not want to suffer another home loss against Tottenham, as he did with Manchester United.

Tottenham take on Borussia Dortmund in Germany this evening, and there is one player at the Bundesliga club who will have particularly bad memories of facing Spurs.

Former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa was part of the Red Devils side which lost 3-2 at Old Trafford in September 2012, the first Spurs win at Old Trafford in more than 30 years.

Andre Villas-Boas' side stunned United, and it was Kagawa's first loss as a United player, having signed in the summer.

It was a game in which Mousa Dembele was making his first contribution as a Tottenham player after signing from Fulham, and he was a real force, pictured above muscling Kagawa off the ball.

Dembele is along with Kyle Walker, the only starter that afternoon in Manchester who will feature this evening, with Hugo Lloris benched for Brad Friedel for the 2012 clash, while Jan Vertonghen who started, is out injured.

Kagawa scored in the 3-2 loss, but it was a big win for Spurs, and the Japanese international failed to really hit it off at United, and he was sold back to Dortmund in August 2014.

He has made 18 starts in the Bundesliga for Dortmund this season and two appearances from the bench, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
