Sheffield Wednesday's Barry Bannan reacts to Scotland recall

The in-form 26-year-old has been given a lifeline at international level.

Barry Bannan has seen his excellent form for Sheffield Wednesday rewarded with a recall to the Scotland side ahead of friendlies with the Czech Republic and Denmark later this month.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been in fine form for the Owls this season and looks to be playing an instrumental role in helping their Premier League promotion push, with Carlos Carvahal's side currently occupying the fourth and final playoff spot in the Championship.

Bannon has 20 Scotland caps to his name, but he has not represented his country in what will be a year on March 29, his last appearance coming in the 6-1 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Gibraltar.

He made his international debut way back in 2010 against the Faroe Islands, though he is yet to find the net for Scotland.

If he plays against the Czechs on March 24, he could come up against his Wednesday team-mate Daniel Pudil, who also earned a call-up.

The former Aston Villa man has netted twice in all competitions this season - once in the Championship and once in the FA Cup.
