Sheffield Wednesday tracking Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson

HITC Sport understands Nottingham Forest defender is a target for Championship rivals.

Sheffield Wednesday are tracking Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson as they weigh up a move for the player in the summer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the City Ground on a free transfer.

Forest are understood to be keen to keep hold of the powerful central defender, but as yet no new deal has been offered to Wilson.

The news has alerted a number of clubs to Wilson's possible availability on a free transfer with Sheffield Wednesday maintaining a watching brief on Wilson's situation at the City Ground.

Wednesday see Wilson as someone who would bring valuable leadership and experience to their side and they are ready to offer him a move to Hillsborough if Forest fail to tie him down to a new deal.

Wilson is in his second spell at Forest after rejoining the club in the summer of 2013 after a two-year spell with Scottish giants Celtic.

Forest would be loathe to lose Wilson on a free transfer and they are expected to push forward in offering the defender a new deal.
