Ray Wilkins reacts to Grealish exit reports; names club he should move to

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish has been linked with leaving Aston Villa this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Chelsea and Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins has reacted to reports claiming Aston Villa will sell Jack Grealish this summer.

Wilkins said: “With Grealish, there is one player I would not be thinking about allowing to leave the club. Because this young man is an extremely talented guy, he eats and sleeps Aston Villa.”

Grealish was linked with leaving Villa by the Telegraph, who claim that the young playmaker could be just one of a number of players exiting Villa Park upon relegation to the Championship.

The 20-year-old has hardly featured under Remi Garde, and it is clear that he is not in favour at Aston Villa right now. There have been issues with his private life, and the scrutiny the youngster has come under has seemingly had a negative impact.

His reputation has drastically fallen from what it was at the start of the season, when Grealish was considered the next great Premier League talent.

He obviously has skill, but not many clubs will be willing to bring him in unless they know they can return his mentality and set him on the right path.

When discussing which clubs would be good for Grealish, Wilkins responded when asked whether Premier League side Southampton would be a wise option for the youngster.

When asked if a club like the Saints would be good for Grealish, Wilkins replied: “He’s got to play in a side that wants to play football. There’s no question about it, he could play in that sort of environment [Southampton].”
