Hargreaves made the comments following Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Dortmund away from home at Signal Iduna Park in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday evening (March 10).
“Before the game when you looked at the teamsheet, you don’t want to lose big here because that will have an impact on your confidence, but I think this team, as good as they are and as well managed as they are, I think they will bounce back,” said the former Bayern Munich star on BT Sport 2 on Thursday evening.
“As he (Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino) said, it’s a bad day at the office against a really good opponent, and you just have to chalk it down to that.”
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino did not field his best available team against Dortmund, with the likes of Kyle Walker, Harry Kane and Mousa Dembele all starting the game on the substitutes’ bench.
Winning against Dortmund in Germany was always going to be tough, but the way in which Spurs lost will be a concern.
If Pochettino had fielded his best team, then maybe the North London outfit could have had a different result.
Spurs should be able to bounce back from the defeat with ease, as they take on relegation candidates Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
