Mick Quinn slams Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley over Newcastle United delay

The former Magpies man is not happy in the slightest.

Mick Quinn has slammed Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and his managing director Lee Charnley over the delay in making a decision over Steve McClaren's future.

The 54-year-old's future as Magpies manager reportedly hangs in the balance (The Chronicle) as United sit 19th in the Premier League table. HITC Sport revealed on Wednesday that former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez will be offered the job.

It has been five days since Newcastle suffered the 3-1 home defeat by Bournemouth, and three days since the club's hierarchy had begun talks over dismissing McClaren.

But with still no action taken by the club, Quinn has given both barrels to the suits at St James's Park.

David Moyes has also been linked with replacing McClaren (Sky Sports) and former Newcastle midfielder Steve Watson would prefer if the ex-Everton and Manchester United boss took the reins.

If Benitez or Moyes get the job this week, they have arguably the hardest possible coronation as manager, with Newcastle scheduled to visit Premier League leaders Leicester City on Monday night.
