Don Hutchison reacts on Twitter to Benitez-reports... Newcastle & Sunderland fans disagree

The former Sunderland midfielder and life-long Newcastle fan has taken to social media.

Don Hutchison thinks Rafael Benitez would be a great appointment for Newcastle United - even if some Newcastle and Sunderland fans disagree!

The Daily Mail (among many others) report that the Spaniard could be set to replace Steve McClaren.

And that excites Hutchison:

But several supporters - some Newcastle, some neutral and some Sunderland... - were far from convinced Benitez is the man for the Magpies.

For starters, he hasn't managed a club lower down the table since the 1990s. His forte is taking a team almost at the top nearer the top by spending huge fortunes.

Since leaving Liverpool, Benitez hasn't necessarily managed that, either. That's why Sunderland supporters may be quick to note Rafa's failure at Real Madrid, while Newcastle fans may be worried at the same time.

Many of the Newcastle faithful, of course, are delighted by the prospect of Benitez coming in - but still fear it's simply 10-20 games too late to keep them in the Premier League.
