Newcastle are reportedly close to sacking Steve McClaren.
Burley said: “I thought if this club was going to be decisive, they would have sacked him on Saturday night after the 3-1 home defeat by Bournemouth.”
McClaren looks to be simply be waiting until he sacked, with many believing a decision will be made heading into the weekend.
However, this will leave his replacement will almost no time to prepare for Monday’s game against Leicester City, and it seems strange they would wait so long to sack him if they were going to sack him anyway.
Burley is surprised that the Magpies were not decisive with their decision, sacking McClaren immediately after their 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend.
That would have given his replacement roughly a week to prepare for the upcoming game, and improve the chances of victory.
Considering Newcastle's failures, it is well known that their board are not particularly great at their jobs, and not being decisive about McClaren’s future could cost the Magpies their top flight status.
