Claudio Ranieri says Matty James has impressed him in Leicester City training

Matty James is yet to make an appearance for Leicester City so far this season.

Manager Claudio Ranieri has said that Leicester City midfielder Matty James has impressed him in training this week.

James has missed the entirety of the season so far, after he damaged his knee towards the back of last campaign.

The central midfielder has endured a lengthy recovery period so far, but he is starting to edge closer to full fitness now and Ranieri has been impressed by what he has seen from the 24-year-old.

In James’ absence, Leicester have performed miracles to rise to the top of the Premier League table.

The brilliant partnership between N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater in the centre of the pitch has ensured Leicester haven’t missed James too much, but his return will be great news for Ranieri.

The former Manchester United man was one of the Foxes’ best players last term, and his quality in undoubted.

Whether James will play any part in Leicester’s match against Newcastle United on Monday evening remains to be seen, but he will be hoping to make an impact before the end of the campaign.
