Trevor Sinclair asks whether QPR can mount play-off push on Twitter, fans respond

Queens Park Rangers defeated Derby County 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Queens Park Rangers recorded one of their best victories under boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as they deservedly beat top-six contenders Derby County 2-0 at Loftus Road.

The Rs scored either side of half-time, with the first coming after sustained pressure and the second killing off the game on the counterattack as Derby pushed forward looking for an equaliser.

The Rams may not be in their best shape at present, yet the way in which they they soundly beaten by QPR was impressive from the hosts and step in the right direction for Hasselbaink.

The Dutch coach initially struggled after making the move from Burton Albion, yet three wins in the last seven games have pushed QPR up to 11th in the Championship table and nine points off the top six.

Following their victory, Trevor Sinclair asked on Twitter whether the West London club still have an outside chance of making the playoffs, yet fans responded with most claiming they are not quite ready.

While promotion should be grasped when the opportunity arises, it is undoubtedly better to head to the Premier League with a balanced squad and one which is deemed ready to compete.

Both Bournemouth and Watford, last season’s top two, deservedly won automatic promotion and they both currently sit safely in midtable and all-but assured of preserving their status in the top-flight.

QPR last won promotion via the playoffs in fortuitous circumstances and then suffered an ill-fated campaign in the top-flight, a year fans will remember and be keen to experience again.
